Elwar’s family is from the Waas Forest, a tribe of natives with a philosophy to live off of the natural wonders of ethernano, much like the creatures of Serra, aiming to mimic their ways in order to better understand it. They believe that by coexisting with creatures in close proximity, the shared power between them will increase their rapport with nature and eventually allow them exclusive access to the secrets of the ethernano. As such, members of the tribe are predominantly Theurgist and are taught to coexist with animals from a young age in order to optimally store as much ethernano within themselves as possible.

The tribe did not immediately migrate to Eos in the x300’s like the rest of the world in reluctance to leave their home and way of life. However by x361 the previous generations of elders passed, and the stubbornness of the old ways with them, ushering in the new age of leaders. Under the new ways the tribe quickly became progressive towards inviting the ideas of worldly education (Eos Academy) to help enhance their pursuit of the ethernano’s secrets. Doing so of course, without compromising the foundation of their beliefs.

However by the time the tribe was prepared to migrate to Eos in x371, The Border Security Act had reared its head, forcing them to wait out the monarchy for 73 years. By X444, when the Council had been put in place and The Border Security Act was removed, Elwar’s great grandparents became the first members of their tribe to migrate to Eos. They settled in Altair where they made a living writing and publishing bestiary’s for both the public and Academy curriculums. When Elwar’s grandfather was born, his great grandparents were the first to start the new way tradition of the tribe called ‘Ethernano Nesting’.

Ethernano Nesting serves to ensure that the tribes foundational beliefs continue on. During this time, children born outside of Waas are sent back upon birth to be raised in the old ways for a decade before being re-introduced into modern civilization. While nesting they are taught the tribes philosophy, how to commune with nature, and how to coexist with its creatures. On their tenth year, before their nesting is completed, the children must procure a familiar in order to fully initiate themselves into the tribe.

Elwar, being the third generation of the tribe to undergo the nesting, proved to be the first under the new ways to exhibit any truly exceptional talent for theurgist magic. During the familiar trial in his tenth year, Elwar was attacked by a wyrm in the deep forest. There he was saved by a kit fox, one of the most fickle and elusive creatures by all tribesman accounts. Moreover, the fox being the one to initiate and willfully submit into a pact outside of any forceable efforts. The belief within the tribe is that Elwar’s talent and potential capacity for ethernano is so vast, that even the great creatures of the forest are moved to his attendance.

In light of this his path toward re-introduction into society would be called beyond just any normal citizenship to Eos, but rather, to be the first of the tribe to attend the Academy. The elders of the new way deeming it imperative for his potential to be fully reached with help from the progressive studies of Eos. Since then it has been seven years since his acclimation into Eos. Learning the culture, government, and overall structure of the modern world as it is a far cry from his humble beginnings in the Waas Forest. Elwar now with a firm footing in both his heritage and the modern world, is prepared to take his first steps into the Eos Academy and start down the path of his destiny.
