[nospaces] [attr="class","nodens"] [attr="class","nodens2"] [attr="class","nodenstop"] WARTIME BALLAD - MYSTIC[attr="class","nodensbulk"]
[attr="class","nodenscontainer"] [attr="class","nodensheader"]MAGIC BACKGROUND [attr="class","nodensmagleft"] [attr="class","nodensmagleft2"] All along Mordred’s body is a cursed text. Upon inspection, the text turns out to be lyrics that have been tattooed all along his body. The song, as malevolent as it is, is known as “The Wartime Ballad.” When Mordred found them, he simply tailored to his body as they were intended, thus unlocking the macabre and dangerous abilities within.
[attr="class","nodensheader"]MAGIC ABILITIES [attr="class","nodensmagleft"] [attr="class","nodensmagleft2"] - When the tattoos came onto Mordred, it gave him a new kind of magical signature. Thus, it allows him to blend into places and only exhibit a haunting aura around him. Those unprepared can feel the sense of paranoia ripple throughout their body for a moment. When “hunting”, Mordred can leave traces around an area to throw off trails. Elites can track him by searching for the markings left by his abilities and the lingering stench of dread that he leaves.
- With magic not tailored in his skin, Mordred gained heightened durability. Weaker swords break against him. He can overwhelm juvenile magic with a mere show of force. He will not take damage from jumping from high places (such as the tall buildings in the City of Tears).
- Alongside his durability, his body will restore itself to normal against some major damage and most minor scuffs. He can’t get papercuts anymore, so that’s a plus.

[attr="class","nodenscontainer"] [attr="class","nodensright"] [attr="class","nodensheader"]HEX - THE FIRST VERSE [attr="class","nodensmagright"] [attr="class","nodensmagright2"] Duration: 2 Posts[break] Cooldown: 2 Posts[break][break] “The first verse is dedicated to the ferocity of battle. Death comes so quickly and violently. A stray blast of magic, a sword slicing through a throat--oh, if you blink, you’ll miss everything! If you blink, you’ll probably die just as quickly.”[break][break]
The First Verse is a simple attack buff for the most part. The blue markings around his arms will glow firstly before he’ll act. Mordred’s speed is enhanced beyond their limits. Afterimages and temporary vanishing become available for his usage. Coupled with the full-on strength gained, the First Verse can allow for a swift end to battles to those who aren’t prepared. For the attack power, Mordred will have to squander the hex entirely in order to deliver the maximum damage. The weaknesses of the hex’s visibility and the backlash of his body. Abuse of the ability can result in severe damage to his very mortal body.
[attr="class","nodensheader"]HEX - THE SECOND VERSE [attr="class","nodensmagright"] [attr="class","nodensmagright2"] Duration: 3 Posts[break] Cooldown: 3 Posts[break][break] “The second verse is dedicated to the longevity of war. Soldiers are replenished as quickly as they are wasted, but it’s their existence that carries on the longstanding beauty of violence.”[break][break]
The Second Verse is an opposing buff of the First Verse. Where the First Verse is meant to maximize Mordred’s battle capabilities, the Second Verse is meant to temporarily bolster Mordred’s defensive and regenerative abilities. Once activated, the ring around Mordred’s head glows blue. Though he takes the damage, the Second Verse disables his body’s ability to withdraw from pain. Furthermore, it allows him to survive a fatal blow. The clear weaknesses are the visibility of the hex itself and the nature of injuries that can be dealt with. Yes, Mordred can survive a stab to the heart while it is active, but if he cannot escape and stabilize--he’ll die.
[attr="class","nodensheader"]SORCERY - DEATH’S THANKLESS LESSON [attr="class","nodensmagright"] [attr="class","nodensmagright2"] Duration: 5 Posts[break] Cooldown: Once Per Battle, unless someone heals Mordred’s fingernail.[break][break] “Death is never thanked for the mercy they spare, so this is to teach gratitude.”[break][break]
Considered one of Mordred’s more reckless abilities, it starts with him ripping out his middle fingernail (commonly the right). Once he does, it forms into an unique sealing sorcery designated to inflict as much pain upon someone as possible. The next step is for Mordred to implant the nail inside of someone’s body. Dependent on the area of impact, the nail will “sprout” into an intense pain that can kill those with weaker wills. Those who survived the sorcery have stated different sensations, proving that it’s different for each person. Ranging from the feeling of bugs eating away at one’s nerve endings to a miniature sun being woven under the skin, it leaves victims open to more dangerous attacks. Though, it’s only a one-time ability as Mordred must regrow the nail first or have it healed to perform the sorcery again.
[attr="class","nodensheader"]INCANTATION - THE BLOODSTAINED BALLET [attr="class","nodensmagright"] [attr="class","nodensmagright2"] Duration: 6 Posts[break] Cooldown: 6 Posts[break][break] “I thirst for blood,[break] I hunger for flesh.[break] On this battlefield,[break] I have surely wept.[break][break] Have I found a lover,[break] An artist of death?[break] May we dance [break] until our dying breath?”[break][break] “A grand finale of the highest esteem, one that will surely deserve an encore, don’t you agree?”[break][break] The Bloodstained Ballet is a proverbial double-edged sword. Primarily, a “stage” is formed in a radius of 26 meters (28 yards). The illusion of the first technique is merely for Mordred’s theatrics. Suddenly, a haunting marionette appears over both Mordred and his opponent. Strings attach to them and the true nature of The Bloodstained Ballet begins. Infusing both with a massive amount of Etherano, the marionette forces both combatants into fighting at their fullest potential. Despite damage being dealt, death is a non-factor as long as the Bloodstained Ballet is going on. Thus, a fight of the highest caliber is forced to play out. When the applause and the curtain go down, the radius/stage vanishes. All damage received during the onslaught is inflicted and mortality is returned. Yet, the lasting benefit is that any damage taken becomes non-fatal. The overall purpose is for Mordred to truly act out the wishes of the Wartime Ballad’s composer. Yet, for a strategic purpose, it can leave either combatant in a vulnerable state, possibly within one strike of death. |

[attr="class","nodensheader"]CHARACTER BACKGROUND [attr="class","nodenscharright"] [attr="class","nodenscharright2"] “Papa, there’s a shadow in my room.”[break][break]
“A shadow? Issak, it’s your shadow. It’s your friend. It watches for the monsters.”[break][break]
“What if the shadow is the monster?”[break][break]
A family of three found killed in their home. The patriarch of the household was a researcher at the Institute of Sorcery. His wife and his son were also slain in the attack--an assassination that doesn’t seem to have a motive. Markings were found along the walls where the individuals were killed. A team has been assembled to decipher their meanings. The method of murder was varied upon each victim but they were all found laid on the ground as if they were about to be buried.[break][break]
“Where did Roy go? He was supposed to be guarding the safe tonight.”[break][break]
“He must have gone skirt chasing. The man’s a wannabe whore.”[break][break]
“Hey, I think that’s him over there. Let’s go get ‘em.”[break][break]
“Yeah, maybe we can sober him up.”[break][break]
Three guards, all on duty, were found dead near the home of a wealthy bachelor. They were found by their boss in the morning. Their bodies were found in the same way as several murders earlier this year. The safe was broken into but nothing was stolen. The inside of the safe had those same markings. This must be the work of a serial killer.[break][break]
“There’s someone out there. Stay vigilant.”[break][break]
“There’s some foul magic out there. I can almost smell it.”[break][break]
“What in the world is that humming?!”[break][break]
“Get away! Contact the Council. It’s that--”[break][break]
Finally, we have the most recent killings. Five Council Knights: Three Knights, one Advisor, and a Captain. The markings were everywhere. This confirms it. There’s a serial killer. We used to have no idea of how to locate them. Nevertheless, they left an official message for the Council. It is that they were proving their worth...to the Grimm Troupe. [break][break]
What is chilling about these murders is that the killer bears magic that allows them to leave visualizations of their acts. These conversations listed in the records are taken right from the final conversations of the victims. Only captain ranked soldiers are allowed to view these memories as they may be linked to volatile magic. [break][break]
This killer is clearly methodical. Their murders thrived on their ability to make anything they wish into a reality. Parents cannot protect their children from this monster because parents have nightmares of them. Any safe is accessible because the guards are all dead. The Council cannot defend the people because they cannot defend themselves. We have given the name of “Poltergeist.” [break][break]
The three rules of the Poltergeist: 1. If you hear a faint humming, run and contact the Council. 2. If you see your shadows moving on their own, run and contact the Council. 3. If you see any markings appear, try to contact the Council. [break][break]
REDACTED: WHEN MARKINGS APPEAR, POLTERGEIST IS WITHIN METERS OF A POTENTIAL VICTIM.
