((Just got back. Apologies for the length. I'm still a bit dead from the trip.))
"I wager most like to think Era's prosperity is all that matters," Larsa said with a sincere frown. "If it's all they can see, then it is all that matters, no?" Larsa removed his coat, resting it on his forearm as he waited for a waitress to approach the two of them. He shrugged slightly. "Not everyone is so bad, though. Don't get me wrong. Their priorities are just...different from my own."
He enjoyed Rhyme's straightforwardness. He couldn't tell if it was ignorance or gut though. Perhaps a bit of both. He wasn't wrong to thing what he did of Larsa. Larsa was indeed a sketchy figure. His words didn't hurt the Councilman. They didn't surprise him either. He had heard harsh things. There were plenty of people that didn't approve of his practices. However, he did manage to get things done. To him that was all that truly mattered. As odd as his tactics were, he wasn't just bark.
"Well that's good then. Byzel is what I would consider a timeless city." Larsa and Rhyme were lead to their seats. He hung his coat over the back of the chair and then sat down. He ordered a hot tea and then returned his attention to Rhyme. "Byzel has an air of its own. It doesn't matter what how the world around is advancing. The streets of the City of Tears will remain how they are. That is Byzel. For a timeless man, a timeless city is perfect."
"It is. But mostly just a place to escape the rain," He smiled briefly.

"Era's the... center of Eos, right? The place where the council and the Knights reside?" Rhyme clarified. It was true that, with the size of Eos, it was all too easy to become apathetic of other portions of the megalopolis. Still, he wished those who were considered the leaders of this nation would think of those in direr straits than them... and from what he had heard, Byzel was not even the worst off of Eos's districts. Ah, but he had gone this road of thought before...
...Larsa's acceptance of his assessment of him was... refreshing. A simple silence, but there was understanding--- that he knew exactly where he stood, and that he even took pride in it. Perhaps he could stand to be more straightforward in his help of the citizens of Eos, but Rhyme admitted to himself that he did not know the workings of the humongous city's government. Perhaps such trades of favors and underhanded deals were needed just to survive and make a difference... although Rhyme still felt it left a bad taste in the mouth. He wondered if there was an honorable way to make a difference in this country.
Ah, but perhaps he should not think of such large things just yet when even his own identity laid beyond his grasp.
He listened as Larsa spoke about Byzel. "A timeless man?" he inquired. That seemed... a strange turn of phrase. He wouldn't know if Byzel had ever changed, being new to it all himself, but he found its ambience and what he had seen of it--- the cavernous walls and rain, the simple people--- comforting.
He wiped the rain off his hair and his clothes carefully, and sat down as well. Perhaps his affinity to water made the idea of escaping the rain foreign, but he supposed people needed a respite from the downpour now and then. He perused the menu. "They have a... milk tea?" he noticed, intrigued. "I guess I'll have that, thank you." he said to the server.
...there was something he was thinking of saying to Larsa, but he supposed he'd see if there was something else he'd like to say.
