[nospaces] [attr="class","opmind"] [attr="class","opmindblurb"] [attr="class","opmindblurb1"] P R O L O G U E [BREAK] Several steps down a steep corridor that was more cave than manmade structure, in a dimly lit room with no windows that was isolated from the rest of the institute, silhouettes quietly went about their work. Research equipment lay about. Files, all sorts of technological gizmos and liquids in tubes laced the walls. They circled around the center of the room, where the only source of light tinted the laboratory in a turquoise hue. The only sound, aside from silent murmurs and muffled buzzing of tubes and machines, came from within this source of light. Three large cylindrical tanks enclosed by thick glass walls and a footing made of complex technology. The blue-ish green viscous solution that filled these containers housing a humanoid shape within them.[break][break] "The first one is nearing completion. We are one day ahead schedule. I still think we wait until tomorrow." The voice was dry, and coarse. It was a man's voice. The tall scientist standing in a white lab coat with the emblem of the institute of sorcery on it spoke with authority.[break][break] "If we release it today... we would get almost 24 hours of additional testing done. That could prove invaluable for the completion of the other two subjects." Another voice spoke softer than the first. A female voice. The woman it belonged to had a slim face with almost snake-like features. Her face suggested annoyance.[break][break] "You might be my superior, but what I've done here far exceeds your capabilities. My personal involvement has not clouded my judgement just yet." The first voice replied, gratingly and with challenge in its tone.[break][break] "That's right. I am your superior. Check the vitals again. Increase the dosage, and get it out in one hour." Her words were full of poison. [break][break] "If we do that, it might become instable... Just because the vitals match the prognosis does not ensure complete success. We have the buffer, we should wait." [break][break] The woman waited a bit. "No. If we deliver results to our benefactor earlier, they might increase funding. Do it now."[break][break] No more words followed. The muffled buzzing of the machines, and the bubbles rising from the creature in the tank were all that remained.[break][break]

to report yet?" The booming, dire tone of a single Captain rang out as he stood in front of the Institute; a whole regiment both around him and already inspecting the damage lingering on the exterior of the structure which had housed the illegal research. As far as what Ferr knew, and most of his men, damage was the result of alchemical explosion. However others were saying it some perpitrator who had infultrated the Institute. The large minotaur-man began to walk through the debris and inspect the burn marks. His eyes were low with worry and weary. Whatever caused this damage most have been a good deal explosive. Ferr looked deeper into the institute. He say a clear path that had been crafted. It almost looked hastened and was made in a panic. A Knight came up to the Captain, a stern look on their face. "Sir Captain Aesir, we will need to go deeper into the building in order to figure out what happened." Sighing deeply, Ferr nodded and began moving into the Institute. "Kaz, Ghul, with me. Everyone else is to set up a perimeter. Don't allow anyone into the scene that isn't directly involved. If they have information, let them pass and take down-" The giant was interrupted by an eruption off in the distance. The second or was this the third? It was not very far; the same spot as earlier in the day. Most of the Knights gathered into a phalanx, looking to their Captain for orders. His bright, white teeth -sharp and carnivorous- were displayed in an animalistic form of aggression. His armored hand pointed towards the surge and Ferr roared out an order to advance. "Everyone, move out! Go! I believe another unit may already be there. Aid them, but only after securing civilians. Kaz, Ghul, on my six."With their orders, Ferr's unit of Knights rushed off, leaving him and his two soldiers. Kaz, the wild, young ace. Ghul, the strict by-the-book senior officer. Ghul, would raise their voice when they saw the Captain who was known to throw his life into any danger, not go towards the sound of trouble. "Sir, why not go yourself?" Ferr continued to walk into the institute, following the path of carnage and destruction within. "Whatever is causing that, most likely is what came from within. We need to figure out what that is." There wasn't so much as a pause when a locket was pulled out of Ferr's pocket. The silver necklace and bronze casing were mute without light shining off of them. The horned mutant opened the small keepsake, the image of his mother resting within it. "This is probably the worst day of the year. Not just because of this messing going on." His voice was mostly hushed as if he was speaking to the locket instead of his knights. ISHY of THQ & ADOXOGRAPHY
