Just like how a pool of water shifts when wind blows upon it, the mutant's soul shifts in the presence of other souls. This translates into a supernatural sense that is able to determine the presence of living beings and spirits, identify them by their spiritual 'appearance', and gain an insight into their feelings and desires.

The mutant can focus this sense on a singular individual to gain greater clarity on their intentions, allowing a sort of precognition in what that individual might be attempting to do next.

The mutant is more ethereal than a normal person, their spirit more overtly pervading their existence. The mutant ages very, very slowly, and is able to forego certain necessities like food and water when in places of high ethernano density. They also have a greater resistance to mystical effects levied against them--- magics that aim to affect their mind and soul--- and have an easier time using magic in areas with turbulent ethernano flow.

While the mutant seems to be made of solid flesh, when they are sliced or pierced, or struck hard enough, their body is revealed to be made of water, foaming or leaking instead of bleeding. This grants a certain amount of defense, as they are harder to harm physically, although it can be done with enough force--- or one could just use alternative methods, like electricity, freezing, or dehydration.

They are also immune to certain things by virtue of being made of water, such as certain poisons. The mutant still needs to eat, sleep, and breathe (although they could do so underwater).

The mutant gained this mutation due to the shock of the death of a certain mage in the past, who specialized in water magic.

The mutant is able to transform ethernano within him to an emanation of calm and peace, allowing him to dispel unwanted emotions and mental interference of a similar nature. [break][break]He is able to project this emanation to other people as a shimmering azure wave, which can similarly help them, or, when the amount of calm is increased accordingly, either distract them, lower their guard, convince them not to fight, or put them to sleep. More time and effort are obviously needed to channel a greater amount of calm, and the efficacy is weakened when trying to hit multiple people at the same time. The wave can reach up to 150 feet at maximum.

A group of adventurers found him in a ruin--- a strange sight, a sleeping man, miraculously untouched by the myriad creatures that slinked about in the rubble. They brought him back to their camp, and then to their outpost; when he at last awoke, he found that while he seemed to have some basic knowledge of language and magic, he knew nothing about himself beyond his name--- Rhyme.

He found that he could take a hit or two, because his flesh flowed when he was struck, and that he noticed the presence of people even without sight or sound. He found from his rescuers that that meant he was a mutant, and yet he felt that that was wrong, or that he knew some other magic beyond that. He had dreams, vague flashes.

Once, there was a boy, picked up from a lowly family by a mage who saw his innate talent. The boy was brought into an academy, where he grew in knowledge of spells and lore. The boy heard talk of how the nobles oppressed people, even as he was unaffected because of his mentors' patronage; he was appalled to know that some of his mentors were at times involved. The boy decided that he would... that he should... do something--- for those who were not as lucky as he.

From those flashes he thought he must have been some sort of mage, in some sort of academy, but beyond that he knew nothing else. So he supposed he would look into similar places, and perhaps there might be people who would recognize him, or know something about him. Perhaps he might find some clue about himself, and find his place in this world that was very strange to him.

Once, there was a mutant, one who could see the souls of others. He had been captured by the nobility under the pretense of unlawful magic, when they had only sought to use him, to experiment with him, as with many of those who are similar to him. Then there was a boy, a mage, who freed him and his fellow prisoners, who brought them out of Eos. He died, and the mutant was filled with grief.

The mutant adopted the boy's form and fell into a deep sleep.
