through fire and trial confess your sins Avalon would have to address what the brown-haired fellow stated later. That sort of disrespect and ego was something that tugged on Avalon’s temper. She had a monster to kill, but the charlatan had a point. Though, it wasn’t the only order to assault the monster. No, that would be an asinine approach to surveying and adhering to the damage. Soldiers filtered out to try to save those who needed it, but Avalon stepped forward. These soldiers knew what they had to do; they spent years training to do so. What need did they have for a Captain that had other goals? For Avalon, she was sent to the battleground to handle a strange problem in the way that the Council knows she can.She couldn’t help but grin the way that she does when something interesting falls into her sight. It destroyed buildings and the lives of the people around it. When it ran, Avalon found her true intent and let it radiate out of her. As it turned and took off, stumbling over its feet, Avalon saw nothing but a small, foolish fawn. She was the wolf, she thought. Her teeth were bared and dripping with anticipation. The buildup inside of her body came swiftly in the span of seconds, but in that time, something transpired. Avalon’s nose twitched. The air of her hunting ground suddenly became soiled by the smell of something repulsive. The monster wasn’t running because of Avalon. No, something else had entered the fray. While the scent of regret tickled the air, the overwhelming stench of dread completely consumed it. The scared cry of a younger soldier did little to capture Avalon’s attention, for she already knew that she had to steel herself. Debris of every variety came falling, where building material became merged with cadavers. Yet, it was the design of why it was falling that made Avalon grit her teeth.Tch.Soldiers prepared themselves to try to stop the macabre landfall. Avalon clenched her blade and swung at the debris, annoyed at the spectacle. The strike didn’t hit anything, but it was the aftereffect that did what was needed. Avalon turned her back on the attack, closing her eyes to the pained screams of the unfortunate soldiers that were crushed. Those who were lucky enough to be close to Avalon, their eyes widened at the sight. A ray of hope in the form of a red burst of Etheranos. It cut through the debris, either destroying what it hit directly or sending whatever else away from many of Avalon’s allies. For a brief moment, Avalon took note of some of the other people. For whatever reason, there were many people that she wouldn’t believe would make their appearance known. The Matriarch of House Adler appeared, which gave Avalon some pause. Her presence there made her realize that the world was watching. Avalon began to walk away, knowing the monster had to be killed. Avalon peered over to the brunette loudmouth with a cut of her red eyes. “Do you think that we were sent out here just to fight that monster?” she spat on the ground, “don’t be foolish. The Council is here to save those who clearly cannot save themselves.”The common folk always had their opinions, but few knew to see beyond their petty dissatisfaction. Avalon took a glance at the white-haired individual, who was the first to stand up. His eyes were gentle, but that sort of disposition made Avalon squirm somewhere inside. She offered him a cautionary glare before continuing with her words. “Soldiers, I’m going to go slay that monster. If I do not return, you already know your briefing. Adhere to the wounded, survey the dead, and kill any pests that try to take advantage,” she made sure to say her last directive towards the loudmouth before she began to leave. As she did, she felt her fangs sharpening for the time drew near. The hunt is on.

through fire and trial confess your sins “Stop you?” Avalon began, her voice dropping to nothing but a whisper. “Go against you?”When she concluded, she left a pregnant pause in the air. With it came tension, where even the minor joking that Aster left was eaten away. Avalon hadn’t raised her head since Aster began to speak, where as before she was transfixed on Aster. In the present moment, she merely let herself be silent, only with the rhapsody of different voices telling her everything that Aster’s words meant. When it came time to reply, Avalon couldn’t do anything else-no matter what the voices told her, Avalon resigned to a certain reaction. The Warden lifted her head and elicited a single, robust laugh. Though it wasn’t the laugh that measured her conclusion. The laugh was merely a way to murder the silence. When the light hit Avalon, when she raised her head, her hat slid back enough. It was no longer shrouding her features. And it was the way that her eyebrows strained upward, the degree to which her eyes narrowed, and the redness that devoured her face. It surmounted to Avalon communicating just one thing to the Arbiter. Her words were hardly needed, but she spoke anyways.“I could never dream of that.”Euphoria, sensuality, obsession. All of them were there in Avalon’s short expression. “I told you that everything that I am is yours to use,” she placed her hand against her heart, but clearly gripped her breast. It was as if her heart was trying to tear through her chest. “If you want me to destroy the world, I’ll do it. If you want me to help you steer this world in your vision, I will do it. My code is nothing if it means that I cannot stand by your regime--your side, my Arbiter.”Avalon was forced to take a deep breath. Her composure had devolved into her panting, her face heated by just the atmosphere and circumstances made available. Avalon stood from her seat, placing a knee on the table in an effort to lift herself there. Reckless abandon had taken her as she took Aster’s hands into her own again. The intensity of her feelings caused her magic to spark, tearing apart her gloves. It gave her the chance to touch Aster’s hands, skin to skin, nothing guarding her adoration. Before long, she was on top of the table, but she was properly in the palm of Aster’s hand. The Warden had made herself submissive in essence and in physicality. And she looked longingly, searching for acceptance, in the sharp, yellow eyes of the Arbiter.“A world led by you, Aster, is a world that I would be truly honored to be apart of.”

through fire and trial confess your sins With the inherent ability to cause massive destruction, Avalon knew that the creature needed to be handled with care. The feeling began to fade in favor of the natural inclination to destroy whatever enemy could threaten the world. Her eyes traced around the emerging battlefield; there were civilians still close. In fact, more were approaching than running, it’d seem. A man with orange hair was darting about, being somewhat useful, it appeared. Avalon nearly commanded soldiers to apprehend him, but he was carrying a woman. What was more important was the person trying to negotiate with the creature. Avalon felt a shred of rage coming through, for the man was risking his life to try to communicate. There was no point in doing so at the time.
And the reaction the creature gave to the mobilization only proved Avalon’s instincts correct. Strange magic came from its hand. It wasn’t the full-scale quality that it had earlier, the one that tore apart the whole city block. Instead, it harnessed the energy, no, it manipulated. The creature was targeting specifically...at her. Avalon gritted her teeth and prepared herself for the impact. “Move, soldiers!” she roared, fearing the worst. When the magic did approach, Enma made a move himself. Members of the Red Army arose, the skeletal being becoming a makeshift shield for Avalon. Despite this, she kept her guard up.
It was a fortunate thought pattern to have as the magic delivered on its earlier devastation. Smaller in size, but the raw force of the explosion sent Avalon dragging against the ground. Pieces of gravel and clumps of dirt fell out, striking some of the more inward battalion. She felt in the weight in her bones, reverberations forcing her to steady herself. She saw before her the total decimation of Enma’s personal soldiers, but that was his objective. He understood what the creature was bringing forth in contrast to the smaller appearance of the attack. If it was not the spirit that spoke the truth, it was the soldiers who survived taking their turns marvelling.
“Wow,” one of them merely uttered; Avalon allowed herself to find the source of amazement.
When she did, she couldn’t help but seethe. A crater was left in parts among the buildings behind Avalon. Civilians who were pinned down barely managed to escape certain death. Avalon took the image in and turned back to the creature. “Inner line, fall back,” she began, “outer line, center peel.”
Soldiers followed orders, but they were confused. They were mobilized to strike fast and handle the situation as quickly as possible. Though, looks towards the sudden destruction gave them motivation to move. “Form a defensive perimeter,” another command was issued out, which made the soldiers gravitate towards an inverted square formation. Avalon planned to box the creature in, but disallow any more large-scaled explosions. The only problem was something that Avalon had already confronted before stepping forward.
She would have to stand against the creature mostly on her own.

through fire and trial confess your sins "I love hunting, especially when the prey is so fun to chase after," Avalon replied, but she merely cut her eyes away from Myria. They glossed over, following Avalon's need to put away her want to attack. The teasing and jeering had gotten to Avalon for other reasons. She couldn't shake the smell of Myria permeating off her essence. She couldn't prove anything, and wanton slaying wouldn't go over well.
Especially not with Asher.
"Buuuuut," Avalon dragged on, "I do believe that I need to go hunt something else now. Or someone else, rather."
Avalon straightened back up, returning back to her militaristic stance. She adjusted her hat once more, making sure it was perfectly on straight. "Perhaps we'll meet each other in battle one day. I can probably go conquer the League if need be," Avalon chuckled lowly to herself. As if she had the time for such extracurricular activities.
A jet of red mist left Avalon's mouth before she began to step back. "Hey, will you attack me if I turn my back?"

through fire and trial confess your sins Avalon vi Leomagne, the Warden of the Trench, marched herself towards what was known to be the contact grounds. A monster of unknown origin had made its appearance in Altair, where it shown a power unheard of. The orders came quickly, abruptly even. Soldiers were gathering together upon the pretense of a dire threat that literally shook the confides of its area. Avalon herself would serve as a captain, instead of just the Warden. It didn't matter what was required out of her, she was ready to adapt.
Standing before the military might of the Council was...peculiar.
Blood and gore littered the ground around it as it curiously observed its surroundings. It was nothing out of the Grimm Troupe, Avalon completely recognized. It was not a beast out of any book. It wasn't even a nightmare that a child would fear. It was something unheard of with features that inspired wonder alongside apprehension. Avalon couldn't help but let her face show her internalized reaction.
What was this abomination?
Avalon killed the thought when she saw the bodies and pieces of other bodies dashed across the ground. She smelled the air, sensing not a strain of bloodlust emanating off the figure. She couldn't smell anything but the way that its body jerked around, she came to an easy conclusion. It was lashing out at people, slaughtering them without a second thought. If it could think, that is. Avalon gritted her teeth, summoning her anger and swallowing her unease. She glared into its eyes, where she couldn't recognize life, but a brilliant imitation of it.
The Council was at the ready but an enemy such as this had to be taken with precaution.
"Hold!" Avalon commanded, not wanting to trigger anything--especially not another explosion if it could perform such a feat.

through fire and trial confess your sins Myria was acting in favor to frustrate the Warden. She couldn't admit it aloud, but Myria's tactics were working a bit. She would think that the Grimm Troupe would be proud to be able to flaunt their status around. Not Myria. Instead, she danced around the obvious confrontation with a gleeful temperament. Frankly, Avalon felt a slight apprehension in her forward progression. Fighting Myria here was actually...not in her favor. She noted the deceased wolves but she felt as if she was being watched. Myria's eyes never strayed away for too long, if only to lay a trap that Avalon didn't bother to draw near.
In the forest, Myria could have operatives. The whole display could a means for Avalon to get ambushed. Avalon sniffed the air again before focusing back entirely on Myria. If she couldn't say things outright, then she too would have to dance around the obvious.
If you're who I think you are, then I want to kill you right here. Right now.
Avalon made sure to let that essence linger in the air, allowing a tinge of her bloodlust to come out. At first, she resisted entirely. A few moments later, she let a hint out by mistake. Now, she stood, mirroring Myria's natural aura. "You can say that I have the nose of a shark truly. Did you know that they smell blood almost an entire ocean away?" A slight hyperbole, but one that would tell Myria exactly what she needed.
"But to compare me to a canine wouldn't be amiss. While I can smell bloodshed, I can also smell a lot of other things. Delicious food, for one," a joke weaved in to open up to a darkly casual tone, "but I can smell lies, feelings, and more if I really get close enough. It's why my prisoners never bother to spin tales. They know that I can get anything I need out of them."
"And sometimes, I can tell you...it's euphoric." her cheeks burned a gentle shade of pink, "Especially when they're so strong and they think they know how much they can withstand. But that's the real fun."
"That's my sport of choice. It goes hand-in-hand with hunting."
"Maybe that's why the wolves got scared of you. They realized that they were the ones being hunted...for fun."

I love the idea of her bringing the release papers because it leads to the natural tension that the two have. Perhaps Leviathan does it to mess with the Warden a bit since Avalon especially hates having to release prisoners.

through fire and trial confess your sins Dear Yvel R. Alder,
Maybe...
Just maybe...
I don't have to abandon my place as the Warden. Perhaps I can be an Arbiter in rank but still retain the role as the Warden. You see, it falls on me to keep the criminals in check just as it falls on you to keep your subordinates in line. It does not matter where I am in the future, it will always be my duty to make sure the Trench is never challenged.
Funnily enough, your challenge would be interesting to watch. Please by all means, bring one of your youth to the Trench. We can see if House Alder can continue to stand equal with the Council's finest.
Sincerely
Avalon vi Leomagne Warden of the Trench

through fire and trial confess your sins Avalon admitted to herself that she had to take in everything that Aster just said. It wasn’t elaborate, no, but it was something unprecedented. In the long history of the Council, there could only be one person that could be considered an absolute leader. That person has long since been dead, so the electoral process reigns supreme. The three Arbiters were always what Avalon had known. Though she respected Styliani, her idolization of Aster overwhelmed her, especially now. Her eyes darted around, searching for any aid in what she interpreted. In the end, the conclusion was clear to her, as noted by the relaxing of her features.Aster wanted to be the one true leader of the Council.By extension, Aster just told Avalon that she wanted to take over the world.“Aster,” her voice came out softly, unsure of how to begin to speak again. Pausing upon the first syllable of her next word, the Warden’s eyes fell to the ground. Her hat hid her expression, which bore the brunt of her contemplation. That paled in comparison to her internal feelings. Aster’s words presented an ultimatum hidden among a hypothetical circumstance, one that Avalon found herself forced to confront.
Avalon rose her head, “do you truly wish to rule over us all?” her tone now grave and confident.“Because there are repercussions for such a claim, I am sure you understand that,” she couldn’t speak with concern. To display that would not allow her to test Aster’s mettle. She lowered herself, making sure to be as close to Aster as possible. “It can even be considered a crime in some respect; treason?”

through fire and trial confess your sins Behemoth struck Mr. Duran unconscious for his own benefit. But from the research given to Avalon, she easily inferred that Behemoth might have enjoyed doing so. Nevertheless, she let out a sigh at the status of Mr. Duran. "Don't speak in such a way, Behemoth. You're a soldier of the Council. You're destined to be here beside me at this moment. You're now officially a part of the security detail. If you wish to station yourself at the Trench afterward, then you're welcome to."
Enma scoured the area briefly, trying to find life in any manner. If a threat immediately presented itself, one of his soldiers would come forth. Knowing that fact about Avalon's ability must have been a key reason why Avalon was assigned to the mission. Upon returning his essence to Avalon's form, she noticed something strange. The staff of the hotel had been moved from their standard positions. The woman at the front desk stood diligently, stiff to some degree, but now she was missing. She must have been unwilling to aid someone but a knife to the throat dissolves resolve like ice in the sun. Avalon removed her hat, smoothing her hair out before making sure it was nice and secure.
"His enemies have already begun to move," Avalon said, not exactly caring if any scouts could hear her. The brightness of her eyes clashed with the shadow cast by the brim of her hat. "Mr. Duran utilized this hotel way too much, becoming a part of his pattern. It was his safehouse for all his deeds, especially the ones that were meant to be in the dark."
Avalon lowered to the ground, placing her gloved hand against the tile. "You can feel it, right? Like rats. They're rushing into position. They expect us to come downstairs casually. Like friends. Yammering about whatever recent obsession."
She took a step into the room, looking at the comical way that Mr. Duran was laid out across the bed. She resisted snickering...barely. It was enough for Behemoth to hear but it soon subsided. "How much scum can you take care of on your own? Do you care about how many bodies are left on the floor?"
"Do you like to hunt?"

through fire and trial confess your sins Dear Yvel R. Alder ,
I originally had that thought. However, it does pay sometimes to listen to what they say. Even in their hysterics, their death throes, you can hear so many things. I was told once there are only two certain truths a person can say. Either from a drunk person or from a dying person. But it's up to the listener to believe what they want.
I never had help.
That said, the fact that my father was a former Arbiter must have given me some favor. I can admit that, but I don't believe that it was overall any help. The former Warden was effective at his job, yet he continued on with this strange mercy. He was content with the Trench being full of criminals but never doing anything to help them or get rid of them. It was all because he didn't want to see someone suffer needlessly. It's a sweet thought, I'd assume. What did it cost me, however?
It cost me my chances at becoming an Arbiter myself. I wanted to be the Warden, though. Maybe one day I can rise in the ranks and sit next to the highest powers but right now, I enjoy doing what I need to do here. So, if it cost anything, then it was a worthy price.
Sincerely
Avalon vi Leomagne Warden of the Trench

through fire and trial confess your sins Arbiter Marinou’s decisions would be anything but rash, Avalon would assume. She accompanied the thought with a tilt of the head, akin to a dog would. She was under the assumption that the two were hand in hand as partners. Avalon dissuaded the thoughts with a gentle shake before opting to reply. Aster’s body language had shifted dramatically, going from the affectionate, playful, and even flirtatious spirit to something different. Honestly, Avalon could only describe it as exasperated. One’s mere name, an esteemed one, brought such feelings to Aster’s mind? Enough to override anything else. There was a mystery there, but Avalon felt not the need to pry.
Though the soldier in her needed to put some pieces together. Since they had shared a touch or two, a sandwich, and some not-so-professional glances, she had to take note. Nevertheless, the belligerence under Aster’s breath did take Avalon into consideration. Once again, she felt her face heat up. “You’ll deal with her? What if I’m following orders, then is it truly reckless?” Avalon questioned, but she sooner tried to take her words back. “Without realizing what she’s doing?” Avalon broke away from her slow withdrawal with an intrigued expression, “That’s peculiar but I will be sure to tell you, Aster. I don’t…I don’t believe she’d risk our organization for the sake of her own gain.”At least, she’d like to hope so.“There were attempts on her life not too long ago and she requested my assistance with that. We interrogated a prisoner and we’re on route to apprehending the other two culprits. That is all that she has requested out of me,” the Warden glanced down at her hands, idly massaging a part of her glove, as not to stare directly at Aster, “but she does seem a tad sporadic.” “But we shouldn’t discuss her if it makes you troubled, Aster. I wouldn’t want to sour the conversation at all,” it was an open admittance to her enjoyment. Avalon had lost herself there a little earlier, but she managed to regain everything. However, she couldn’t deny that a part of her was curious. Were the two highest members of the Council at odds? “Unless that is related to any personal matters that you wanted me to assist you with?”

through fire and trial confess your sins Dear Yvel R. Alder ,No wonder that there has been an influx of new inmates that all spout your name. Now I’m not one to follow rumors. As a soldier of absolute justice, I’m afraid I cannot subscribe to everything that I hear. I must hunt the truth for myself. I pray that the things I’ve heard are not anything but attempts to blaspheme your name. Many of them have been the Grimm Troupe filth who say that they were only following an order to bring down a “mad matriarch.” It’s quite the silly choice of last words, I would hope you agree. In any regard, if you have people you wish to be under my watch, please send them. It will not only be my honor, but it will be your civil duty to do so. I’ll be sure to try to accommodate you as best as I can. Which kind of tea do you prefer? Lonely? Oh, I cannot say that it is. The solitude is something that alienates some people, but I have my guards to keep me company. Some other soldiers, even one of the Arbiters, come to greet me on occasion. That said, I might be biased. Being the Warden has been my dream since I was a young girl. Nothing satisfies me more than to exact justice to those who have fallen into depravity. So, to answer your question, Madam Alder, my expectations have paled in comparison to the experience. Being the Matriarch must have been something you have looked forward in similar fashion, am I correct?Sincerely, Avalon vi LeomagneWarden of the Trench

Leviathan
We made allusions to how they would clash, but let's put it to work. I say that Leviathan would register in Avalon's mind as a foe, but not one that she has the complete disdain for. She's not a Grimm Troupe member, for example. That means that there's room for the two to have a spiteful but ultimately fun relationship. Instead of full blown murderous rage off gate, this change would give room for either the improvement or deterioration of their interactions.
